Friday, July 3 – 7PM – The Capitol District
The Nebraska Wind Symphony celebrates America’s 250th Centennial with a free outdoor summer concert on Friday, July 3 at 7PM in the Capitol District, 1022 Capitol Ave. You’ll hear some great American music by the NWS Swingtones Big Band and the NWS Concert Band.
Bring a chair and bring a friend as NWS celebrates our 250th Independence Day with music for all ages. Make it a full night out by grabbing dinner or drinks from the surrounding Capitol District restaurants and bars. Food and beverages are welcome in the Plaza during the concert.
The NWS Swingtones big band begins the evening with jazz selections celebrating America and American Music.
The Nebraska Wind Symphony under the direction of Associate Music Director Keith Davis features America the Beautiful, E.E. Bagley‘s classic march National Emblem, Selections from 1776, and Nathan Farrell‘s All Aboard! You are sure to enjoy Duane S. Milburn‘s American Hymnsong Suite (Movements II, III, and IV), Henry Fillmore‘s Americans We, John Williams‘ moving Hymn to the Fallen, and an Armed Services Medley honoring all branches of the military. The evening concludes with the Battle Hymn of the Republic and the classic American march, Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever. No patriotic concert would be complete without it!
