All-Star Program Student Info

The Nebraska Wind Symphony, Omaha’s community concert band, has a concert on February 20, 2022 at 7:30 pm in the UNO Strauss Concert Hall that will include middle school All-Star oboes, bassoons, and bass clarinets. We will feature 7th and 8th grade double reeds and bass clarinets on “The Baby Elephant Walk” and the Overture and Rejouissance from “Music from the Royal Fireworks” with the band. In addition to working with Dr. Joshua Kearney, Music Director for the Nebraska Wind Symphony, the students will work with a guest artist in a sectional and with the band

Student Participant Registration for Directors
Band Directors select the students to participate.  Each student must make the commitment to attend both the scheduled rehearsal and concert.
Masks are required for the rehearsals and concert.
Directors – Please complete one registration per student.

Rehearsal with NWS – Monday, Feb 14, 2022 – 6:30-8:00PM
St. Thomas Lutheran Church  – 17007 Q Street – in the Community Life Center
Students should bring their music, pencil, and a stand to the rehearsal and performance.
The rehearsal night activities to include:
– Sectional rehearsal with our guest clinician
– Band rehearsal of selections with Josh Kearney

Concert with NWS – Sunday, Feb 20, 2022
UNO Strauss Performing Arts Center –  60th and Dodge
6:30PM – warm-up rehearsal in the performance hall
7:30PM – concert
Parents of participants can purchase tickets for $10 each.
Note: All Children and Students can attend our concerts for free.
To comply with UNO’s Youth Activity Policy, we request that a parent, guardian, and/or director accompany each student for the pre-concert rehearsal at UNO on February 20th.
Concert dress – white shirt/blouse and black/dark colored pants or skirt

This should be a fun and rewarding experience for each participating 7th and 8th grade student. We hope that their band directors will not only involve these players in this special performance, but will attend as well.
