The Nebraska Wind Symphony, Omaha’s community concert band, will feature middle school All-Star trombones at our Winter Concert on March 1, 2026 at 7:30pm at UNO Strauss Performing Arts Center. We will feature 7th and 8th grade trombonists on “All Aboard” and “76 Trombones” with the band. In addition to working with Dr. Joshua Kearney, Music Director for the Nebraska Wind Symphony, the students will work with clinician Dr. Jay Wise in a sectional rehearsal on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 6:30-8:00pm at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 17007 Q Street.
We are excited to provide this opportunity for young instrumentalists to grow in their music education and showcase their talents!
All NWS concerts are now free for all attendees!
We hope this encourages families, friends, and relatives to come and support participating students.
Student Participant Registration for Directors
Band Directors select the students to participate. Each student must make the commitment to attend the scheduled clinic and rehearsal (Monday, February 23), dress rehearsal (February 28), and concert (Sunday, March 1). You can nominate one or two of your best students on trombone. We ask that the teacher recommend the part the student should be assigned. Note that an alternate part may be assigned if necessary to even out the instrumentation.

Concert with NWS
When: Sunday, March 1, 2026
7:00PM – call time to ensure everyone is ready for the concert

Where: UNO Strauss Performing Arts Center, 6001 Dodge St, Omaha, NE
What to wear: white shirt/blouse and black/dark colored pants or skirt
What to bring: your instrument and music – Music stands will be provided.
We request that a parent, guardian, and/or band director accompany each student for the dress rehearsal at UNO Strauss Performing Arts Center on February 28th.
This should be a fun and rewarding experience for each participating 7th and 8th grade student.
We expect band directors to assist their students with their preparation for this special performance.
We ask that band directors attend the rehearsal and performance as well in support of their students.
